What is Health Surveillance
Health surveillance is the monitoring of workers by approved
medical practitioners to identify changes in their health status
because of exposure to certain substances
If you are a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU)
, you must provide health monitoring to workers if there is a
significant risk to worker’s health because of exposure to a
hazardous substance. It involves the examination of the worker as
well as necessary investigations to monitor and protect the
worker’s health because of exposure to hazardous chemicals
Risk based health assessment or biological monitoring is
required where a worker may be exposed to hazardous agents ,
chemicals that can lead to ill health or disease
